Bows and Arrows have been a part of our history since the stone age. Roman soldiers, Viking sea warriors and Norman foot troops all used bows, but in the late middle ages the Archers from Britain were known as the most deadly men in Europe! Archers do not usually depend on a sword to do battle in the same way as a man-at-arms, but all archers should have a sword. If enemy men-at-arms manage to scale the castle walls, or if an enemy knight gets through the archer on the battle field, this sword would be needed. In myth and tale, when his last arrow is spent, a goodly archer, with sword in hand, will fight to the last against evil warriors and goblins. Price: £4.99

Every bowman, archer or forest hunter needs to have a hunting dirk. Used as much for feasting as it is for defence. Archers may not have to depend on a sword or dirk to do battle in the same way as a man-at-arms but all archers have a blade for defence. In myth and tale, a little blade is often used as much more than a handy tool. In the dead of night you can sneak into the enemy camp to cut the ropes that bind your friends. Price: £3.19
